Width × height × waste + installation fee + minimum order.
That pricing rule makes perfect sense to a business owner.
Turning it into a Shopify price calculator usually doesn’t.
So we built AI: Measure Price Calculator around a much simpler idea:
Tell AI how you charge. Let AI build the calculator.
No formulas to configure manually.
No trying to translate your pricing model into complicated conditions.
No building a custom calculator from scratch.
Describe your pricing like you would explain it to a person
Imagine you sell custom flooring.
Your pricing might be:
Width × length × price per square meter, add 10% waste, round up to complete boxes and charge a minimum of $100.
Instead of manually creating every field and formula, you can simply describe those rules to AI.
The app turns them into a working Shopify product price calculator.
Tell AI the rules → Preview the calculator → Publish it
That is the workflow.
Built for products that don’t have one fixed price
Traditional Shopify products work perfectly when something costs $50, $100 or $500.
But many businesses don’t sell products that way.
A customer buying:
- Flooring
- Tiles
- Wallpaper
- Glass
- Fabric
- Rugs
- Blinds
- Custom furniture
- Printing
- Signs
- Building materials
- Made-to-measure products
may need a completely different price depending on measurements and options.
A 2 × 2 meter product should not necessarily cost the same as a 4 × 6 meter version.
That’s where a measurement price calculator becomes part of the product itself.
AI builds the calculator
Creating a calculator starts with explaining what you sell.
For example:
“I sell glass at $80 per square meter. Customers enter width and height in centimeters. Add a $20 cutting fee and charge a minimum of $100.”
AI can use those instructions to create the required fields and pricing logic.
You can then preview the calculator before making it live.
If something needs changing, update the rules.
You don’t need to rebuild everything from the beginning.
Width × height is only the beginning
We didn’t want to build another calculator that can only multiply two numbers.
Real-world pricing gets complicated.
A Shopify store might need to calculate:
Area
Width × height × price per square meter.
Length
Meters, centimeters, feet, inches or other measurements.
Waste
Add 5%, 10% or another percentage automatically.
Minimum prices
Calculate normally, but never charge less than a certain amount.
Fixed fees
Add cutting, setup, production or handling fees.
Options
Change the calculation depending on material, finish, thickness or another customer choice.
Boxes and packs
Calculate the required quantity and round it to complete packages.
Tiered pricing
Change the price when a customer reaches a certain measurement or quantity.
And those rules can be combined.
Customers see the price instantly
The calculator appears directly on the Shopify product page.
Customers enter their measurements and options and immediately see the calculated product price.
That means they don’t need to:
Request a quote.
Send measurements by email.
Wait for someone to calculate the order manually.
Or try to understand a complicated price table.
They configure the product and see what it costs.
The calculated price goes to checkout
This was one of the most important parts for us.
A calculator isn’t very useful if it shows one price on the product page and Shopify charges something different at checkout.
AI: Measure Price Calculator carries the calculated product price into the Shopify cart and checkout.
The measurements and selected options are also saved with the order.
So when an order arrives, the merchant can see not only what the customer paid, but also what they configured.
For example:
Width: 240 cm
Height: 180 cm
Material: Premium
Waste: 10%
Calculated price: $428
This makes the calculator useful beyond the storefront.
The information can continue into production and fulfilment.
One calculator or completely different calculators
Not every Shopify store has the same calculation across every product.
A flooring product might use area.
A wallpaper product might calculate rolls.
A glass product might use dimensions, thickness and finishing options.
A custom furniture product could have an entirely different formula.
The app is designed so different products can use different pricing logic.
For merchants with a simple requirement, a single calculator may be enough.
For stores with larger catalogs, multiple calculators can handle completely different product types.
Why use AI for this?
AI isn’t calculating every customer’s order.
That would be unnecessary.
Its job is to make building the calculator easier.
The merchant understands the business rules.
The app understands how to turn those rules into the fields and pricing logic required by the storefront.
That’s the part where AI makes sense.
Instead of learning how a calculator builder works, you explain how your business works.
Built as a Shopify app at MoonImpact
At MoonImpact, we build Shopify apps when the standard product model isn’t enough.
Sometimes that means a completely custom application for one merchant.
Sometimes we find a problem that many Shopify stores share and turn the solution into a public app.
AI: Measure Price Calculator started with a very common ecommerce problem:
How do you sell something when the price depends on what the customer enters?
Our answer was to remove as much configuration as possible.
If you can explain your pricing model, you should be able to create the calculator.

Create your Shopify price calculator
If you sell products by area, length, dimensions, quantity, weight, boxes, rolls or custom formulas, you shouldn’t have to become a developer just to put your pricing online.
Describe your rules.
Let AI build the calculator.
Preview it.
Publish it.
Then let your customers enter exactly what they need and pay the calculated price directly through Shopify.
